Potentially introduces iPass and iPass SmartConnect™ technology to global customer base of hundreds of millions of end users
Good things sure do come in threes.
First, we launched the iPass developer community, which allows developers to embed our global mobile connectivity solution into their platforms and applications. The first phase of this developer program enables developers to easily implement iPass technologies and services, by integrating the iPass SmartConnect Software Development KitTM (SDK) into iOS and Android devices and applications. The SDK leverages our patented iPass SmartConnect technology, delivering intelligent, always-on access to Wi-Fi. It also ensures privacy and safety with secure authentication and identity protection.
Shortly thereafter, we announced a partnership with campusSIMs, a mobile service for international students. The partnership gives their student subscribers access to our Wi-Fi footprint through the SDK.
And now, we are delighted to share our latest SDK success story. Global mega brand Tata Communications will be embedding global Wi-Fi access into its service offering.
This partnership will provide Tata Communications’ mobile network operator and app service provider customers with an easy and secure way to access the iPass network — which now consists of more than 53 million hotspots in more than 120 countries.
Why is this announcement so important? Our CEO Gary Griffiths put it best, “Tata Communications has massive global brand recognition, counting more than 900 MNOs and MVNOs among its customers.”Tata’s brand recognition stems from the fact that its products and services reach around 5 billion users – yes billion – worldwide. That Tata Communications sees global mobile connectivity as a strategic part of its service offering is extremely significant. And that it sees iPass as a crucial conduit to deliver Wi-Fi to its customers is indeed very humbling for us.
Needless to say, after this announcement, we will have to revisit our goal of being on one billion devices by next year and revise it – upward.
